Positive affirmations to change subconscious thought patterns

Learn meditation

The repetition of affirmations can on the long term reprogram the subconscious. The subconscious mind is about 80% of our being and is responsible for manifesting our reality. It is programmed around our BELIEFS. These beliefs have been mostly programmed during our childhood through our parents, schools, society and through our own perception of reality then.

By changing our minds, consciously and subconsciously, we can change our reality NOW. We can release the beliefs that do not serve us anymore and create another reality for ourselves, manifesting what we want.

Meditation is one of the best tool we have to do just that.

So many meditators ignore the condition of the self image. Memory is stored in short visuals filled in by us. If we have a negative or unworthy self image a slightly positive memory or neutral, one will be remembered as negative..

I find the 80% number interesting. Experts have a hard time agreeing. My old adage was the ego is a beach ball in the Pacific Ocean of the right hemisphere, (subconscious, creative self, inner guide etc.).

Saying affirmations out loud engages more the mind. I used to record them, leave a message on my phone so I could dial into it at times.

It is a integral piece of the puzzle on our journey.

Loving kindness is also a vital, peace of meditation as Rick Hanson details in Buddhas Brain.

Excellent highlight in a piece of our journey left untouched for many

Simplicity and immediacy are qualities I have found to,go hand in hand with meditation.

So I made one affirmation, repeated 10,000 times, it becomes hard as a diamond.
    .
I deeply and completely accept all of myself, my flaws, my uniqueness, my soul, my doubt and my passion.

I do believe there is a step beneath this, which is that you must accept the validity of the affirmations. Simply saying a series of kind words may appear that you are creating positive change, but again, we are working the subconscious here, not the conscious. If after saying “I am powerful” either mentally or out loud, your subconscious mind says “Yeah, right…” then you are actually affirming the wrong belief. It is important to begin with simple affirmations that your subconscious has no objections to. “I am alive.”. “I am aware of my surroundings”. “I am ready to change”. As you say these things that the subconscious can’t deny, you are allowing the subconscious the space to practice acceptance, which will lead to less resistance as you add in those affirmations which are more subjective.

My experience is that with a little more persistence affirmations take hold, organically for me, anyway.

My ego, self thought I was out right lying when I first recited affirmations.

An affirmation by definition is something we want to acknowledge, accept about ourselves that we currently lack.

      Any affirmation will meet resistance.

Without a daily mindfulness/meditation practice, affirmations would take longer to absorb.

Agreed. This is the difference between desire and intention. Desiring something doesn’t bring it into our being by the act of desire alone. Positive action in the direction of desire must be associated to create the gap in our energetic fields for the physical attainment of our desire to be realized. Affirmations are the desire. Positive action then is when we act “as if” the affirmation is true.

I agree with both of you Michael and Marty. Affirmations + positive action,’ acting as if’ as you say, can create powerful changes in life as the acting reinforce the affirmation for the subconscious mind. It can be very challenging as it can bring up a lot of resistance as we are trying to go against old ‘protective’ beliefs, yet if pushed through enough the subconscious will start accepting a new reality.
Although in the past i have experienced amazing changes with the power of affirmations alone. More than once I`ve healed physical conditions just with the repetition of affirmation. Some healing took a few weeks, some only a few minutes. This astounding me as deep inside i didn`t really believe it would work, yet my doubts didn`t prevent the healing. That taught me a lot on the power of affirmations.
Thank you both of you for your great insight and knowledge.
